If you have the time go to Sintra!!! It is about 1/2 hour drive North but well worth it. Sintra has a great atmosphere and lots of historical sights (the National Palace, Penna Palace and the Moors Castle as a start). You may want to consider staying in Cascais or Estoril-not Lisbon. All the wine in Portugal is excellent and cheaper than water. If you have lots of time try to visit Evora. The best church in the country is in Batalha--just south of Lira. Do not bother going to Porto. It is a polluted, dirty town. Trips up the Duro valley and up to Braga are time better spent. If you need any more specifics on places to visit, sleep or eat please email me.
