I have never heard of this particular scenario working out for anyone, but shy bairns 'n' all that!!!

BA do usually honour a two week grace period, so if you are only a handful of points away at the end of your collection year and complete the flights within the two weeks directly after, a simple phone call should be ok to credit those points into the previous year for you
