That's sad to hear, but not surprising.
I could see this hotel being a serious flagship, but "faded former glory" seems to be its current vibe.
I may have just been lucky (or have low expectations!) but the CLs I've experienced have really been a great addition to my stays at Marriott properties (and, of course, the service and generally positive staff attitude experienced at the mast majority of them).
This might be why I feel disappointed. But (to use IHG analogies) this felt more like an below-average Indigo or sub-par HI in terms of customer experience.
