Thanks to all those who confirmed I should have been entitled to the points. After another two fruitless phone calls I very firmly asked for the case to be escalated to allow me to speak to a manager. After much waffling about why this reward stay should not attract points for the food and beverage he agreed that " on this one occasion only he would arrange for the points to be credited as a gesture of goodwill".
I'll be checking that they do indeed post and I, again, made my point that this was what I was entitled to not a gesture of goodwill or largess on his part.
IHG certainly don't make it easy to conduct business with them do they?!
