Very unlikely on the outbound. DL would consider that a ideal connection and is probably why the mileage is higher than what you ticketed. That said, it more a possibility that if you want to do it on the return portion, a GA might bend the rules (if you were in Y and beholden to the same booking class) and go ahead and confirm you regardless.
The return isn't a problem once you're done with international flights you can SDC. You just can't SDC before your last international flight is done.
Also the higher mileage could be because it's a flight with lie flat seating. (Not sure but one afternoon/evening flight is) Even though not a true D1 flight it can be more popular and due to time more in demand.
