Annual fee hit this cycle. I called in to say I did not think the fee warranted keeping the account open. Rep says she understands and will close the account immediately. At that point I basically said "Whoa, can't you at least waive/credit back the fee or have some other sort of retention offer to keep my business?" After 5 minutes on hold she comes back and says nope, nothing to offer me, and asks me to confirm that I am ready to close the account. I expressed surprise and pointed out that the AF was credited back on my wife's account when she called last month after her AF posted to the account. (FWIW, we each had roughly the same $5-6K amount of spend on our cards in the past year). She reiterated no offers whatsoever for me, so I closed out the account.

I'm really surprised by how easily Barclay's is giving up on these Aviator accounts.
