If LGW South - to take the most glaring example on the horizon - had a single lounge as good as EDI then I personally would be happier with that than the current LGW North Flounge. There's another debate to be had about the food and drink offering, so AMS tends to get some rubbishing since the food offering is well below a UK domestic lounge - but a good, modern, comfortable, varied, well equipped, spacious lounge outpaces any tier exclusivity issues, at least for me. I disagree. As I am due to get a CCR card rather soon, I won't be affected in the very near future, but I must say that in effect the main advantage I have seen in Gold was having separate, better lounges.
The idea that BA will improve lounge offerings across the board would be wholly unrealistic in my view, so the progressive extinction of F lounges will mean a clear downgrade of BA Gold, which, in turn, will undoubtedly be followed by a clear downgrade of BA Silver to artificially recreate a differentiation between the two....
