If this were true every TA would boycott HAL, because they could not compete.

As for UG's status and luck come into play.

GUAR cabins may get you upgraded, but just because the cruise line says its a better CAT, does not make it a better cabin or location Its a crapshoot, one I usually take, but it is not a secret.
