I emailed the HGP people and asked them to include my HGP number on my upcoming reservation. I included the reservation number from my MGM confirmation. HGP responds, saying they cannot find my reservation, and would like me to provide more information, including the city in which the hotel is located and the date of arrival.
Now, I'm confused. Is the MGM eligible for HGP points for a stay? If it's not an eligible Hyatt property, then why would their inventory show up on the Hyatt website?
Congratulations I'm sure it will be quite a show and production
The MGM property regardless if booked through Hyatt or MGM is points and stay credit eligible.
While not officially a Hyatt it is one of the participating relationship hotels within the MGM group of properties that is able to earn in Gold Passport
If it is booked through MGM directly and not Hyatt you will likely have to call MGM to add your account number as Hyatt is unlikely to see your reservation.
Their inventory and booking systems are not linked together in such away to make this easier on all parties
I assume there are a number of reasons for this all to complicated to speculate here

Be sure at check in to make sure without question that they have captured your Gold Passport account number to avoid any issues
with your receiving appropriate stay credit and any points you may have earned>
in Particular I really enjoy being able to dine at enormous variety of restaurants with their large group of properties
and earn Gold Passport points when having the pleasure at staying at any one of their participating properties ^
Have a wonderful stay
