Week 3, Day 4
It was an early start today as I needed to be in Edinburgh for 9am. My alarm was set for 5am and I was out of the house by 0545 after a shower and breakfast.
I remembered that I needed diesel before I could go anywhere as I didn’t have enough in the tank to get to Edinburgh. A few years ago I was filling up 3/4 times a week. Now that my road travel has reduced I do find myself forgetting to check when I need to fill up.
An easy drive meant I was in Edinburgh just after 8am and I parked in my normal car park next to the Sheraton. Edinburgh was basking in glorious sunshine and I had a short 5 minute walk to my meeting this morning. My meeting today was to set up a small test with a customer on a new product we are launching. This involved a small training session and explanation of what would happen in the next few weeks.
A sunny Edinburgh
Just before we started I received a call from a courier trying to deliver my passport. Unfortunately there was no one to accept it so we arranged for him to call back tomorrow afternoon when I thought I would be home.
As part of this test we were also using another customer location just outside of Edinburgh. I drove across town and by 1030 I was all finished with my Edinburgh meetings. Nice and easy today.
Before leaving I bought a coffee and replied to a few emails which had come in. After this it was back on the road to return the way I had come and I was back home by 2pm. The rest of the day was spent providing forecasts, replying to emails and following up on several projects which are starting to fall behind.
Another call I received after lunch was from a ‘private number’. Normally I don’t bother answering these but for some reason I did today. It turned out to be the BarclayCard fraud team questioning some activity on my company card. It appears there was a charge of £450 made yesterday and £600 today which I have not authorised. My card has been cancelled and charges labelled as fraudulent, which creates a small problem as I need my card over the next week. It will take 3-5 working days to receive a new card.
By 6pm I had covered enough and called it a day. The evening was spent watching a little TV and preparing for my meeting tomorrow in Glasgow.
