Not brutal, but very wise. They actually do a sale and lease back the moment the aircraft joins the fleet and the lease term is for 3 years only. This way you need minimal cash on hand too. Not that it matters in the low interest environment... and BTW, they have already disposed of 17 aircraft so far:

The last one in the list was with them just a month? Perhaps they didn't want delivery? The one before that from 2008-9 also lasted just 3 months.
