I regularly bring (mini) beer kegs from Europe to the US and have checked them on various OW airlines (mostly AA, but also BA, AY and AB) without any problem.
Had too may bottles break in the past.
When declaring it at customs, the agents always decided to not collect duty, as the amount owed would be too small to warrant the paperwork.
