Desserts are my favourite part of the meal, and I am now familiar with so many traditional and unconventional desserts from around the world that I have a pretty good understanding of what kind of dessert is popular and where.
For example, ice cream around the world is different in texture and possibly taste: dondurma in Turkey, booza in Arab countries, sorbetes in Philippines, Ais Kacang in south east Asia, gelato in Italy,
fried ice cream in China, kulfi in India, mochi in Japan, frozen custard in USA, dulce de leche in Argentina...etc..
But I wanted to know if you have any favourites from your travels.
My favourites are probably Khao Niao Mamuang from Thailand (mango sticky rice), Barfi from India (kind of like fudge), and Pisang Goreng from Indonesia (fried bananas).
Fried ice cream in China? If I've seen that listed anywhere it's a Tex-Mex restaurant in the US, and I spent about 1.5 years in China. Where did you notice it?
Also, do you like the Indonesian dessert with the bananas, hagelslag and cheese?
