YYZ was actually the focus of a question I asked when this was announced. The lounge announces boarding now and the silvers get down to have to wait. Or the gate says 'boarding now - gold' but by the time they notify the lounge and everyone has waited for the damn slow lift its already on Ruby and pointless.
The problem is when you get down to the gate(especially Gate 31) the way the gate seating is all the way up the sides to the main walking area it's hard for any sort of priority boarding to be done. All you need is a few groups who are milling around at the start of the priority line that won't move even when the staff tell them they are in the wrong line or a late arriving wheelchair passenger or family with small children and the line gets messed up because it's such a long narrow affair. It is better now that they go down the line actually enforcing priority boarding but Air Canada's zone system is far superior.
