In this case it was time. My AA flight was delayed 2 hours the moment I arrived at the airport, so I was faced with a miserable 3.5 hour wait at the loung-less IAH A gates.
And although it's technically a different terminal, there's an airside train - it took less time to get there than it would to walk from one end of T5 to the other, with no checkpoints or security, so it wasn't any great mission.
I do know there are pax who'll try every lounge they can just to see what they are like, or will trek for miles to find a better lounge despite having a close usable one, but not one of them
Having said that, if the BA facility was only really designed for their twice daily services, it would be asking quite a lot for it to be the defacto lounge for all American services. I know their Sapphire / Emerald cardholders cant use Admirals clubs when on a domestic itinerary - but can they use other One World lounges?
I do agree. Not sure of the rules, but if I was an AA Emerald as opposed to a 5,000+ TP BA GGL I wouldn't have had a real issue with being denied.
