The QR website has been a little temperamental today, but usually it is fine.

With regards to using a tablet, I have noticed the same problem as you have with your iPad.

However, the solution I have found, in particular when entering cities, is to select the text which shows as predictive, opposed to just entering the letters. Doing that, allows the QR websites to recognise an entry, and thus I have no issues anymore.
