If PHL-TLV was actually sucking up two full 332 airframes, I can definitely see how reallocating that capital somewhere else makes sense. Even if they were making some money on that route, there may have been substantial opportunity cost to allocating those frames to this route as opposed to multiple other routes; there are plenty of Western European or near South American destinations that could operate a daily return with one airframe.
I really doubt two A332s were dedicated entirely to the TLV route. I'm sure upon returning to PHL the aircraft would rotate onto another flight of some kind, not just sit on the ground. If that was the case then yeah, atrocious scheduling on their part.
