I've had those clowns on the phone loads of times and it was one of the reasons I cancelled my landline because they wouldn't give up. For anyone who doesn't know thyey ask you to do something on your machine that appears to show a serious problem that actually isn't. They then ask for remote access and either download some malware onto your computer or scan it looking for passwords, banking details etc.
I've told them in the past that I don't have the Internet, that they had called earlier and that a Mr Balmer was due to be calling me back 'are you Mr Balmer?' and where's my refund cheque, that my system shows no errors that they were calling about but I do have an error message saying "Water on the hard drive" and the piece de resistance is when I casually say I can't get their instructions to work I'm Using Linux could that be why it isn't working?.I've had them on the phone for ages on some calls just tying up their time, having to go and answer the door is my favorite I can spend 10 minutes doing that and talking to the 'person' who's there. I once had someone who called me up and asked a series of "marketing research" questions, within the questions was one about whether I was a member of an airline loyalty scheme. I said yes (I'm wary of these calls) I'm a member of WestJet,
SkyHigh Airlines

, oh and Virgin, which perked up his interest a bit. Then asked me about when my next flight was and how long I was going to be away for and I gave a day and that I'd be back that same day. To benefit from a special bonus could I hand over my membership number .for the airline I wanted the bonus on. So I made up a number for Sky High Airlines and said I'd have to go and answer the door and put the phone down. .
