If you value Starpoints at 2.5 U.S. cents per point and there's two of you staying together, 15,000 points is the equivalent of US$375. When considered in this manner, US$80 cash per night for the upgrade is probably a better deal than the points. Depends what value to ascribe to your points.

Since the introduction of the lounge, the minibar is no longer complimentary. The Lounge serves all drinks you'd find in your minibar, and the food menu there is so extensive you can easily replace a lunch/dinner with a trip to the lounge.
