I didn't know about this (and my employer is generous enough to reimburse those costs), but I guess DL's own Medallions get it more than three days ahead, right?

Most of my short-haul flying is either early morning (the first departures ex-AMS), or late afternoon (last departures to AMS). On those flights there's always a sandwich, even on the flights to PRG. I also remember a pain au chocolat being distributed on my recent CDG-LHR flight.

Oh yes, and the bus gates - that is, I guess, everyone's peeve. But it's still not even half as bad as on LX, LH, or OS! (LH uses them even for long-hauls, practice I haven't experienced yet on AF or KL)
