The Transportation Dept announced the new minimum amount for lost, delayed or damaged luggage is now doubled to US$2500 on domestic flights. It's effective after a 30 day posting period and will be reviewede every two years now. Transportation Secretary Slater said the airlines are also free to pay more if they like!

BTW- As you'd expect, though very sadly, international is $9.07/lb!
