"Disaster" seems like a bit of an exaggeration. This was more like an "incident" or a "brief scare". The pilot was able to make an emergency landing and everyone got off safely.

The AC DC-9 that burned in Cincinnati, OH or the CRJ that slammed into a forest in Fredericton, NB is more "disastrous" than a WestJet 737 making an emergency landing.
