Checking bags through Dublin (DUB BA-BA)

Coming back from Hawaii in November, our routing is HNL-LAX-LHR-DUB.

I am considering positioning back to London via DUB-LCY (on BA CityFlyer) and then hoping to check our bags through DUB.

Has anyone got experience of checking bags through Dublin airport?

I think this will exceed the number of segments on one baggage tag, so I shall check carefully that my bags are loaded towards the end of the trip.

The aim here is to avoid reclaiming and having to store our bags in DUB since we have a 7 hour layover (from around 09:00 to 16:00) and we want to go into Dublin and look around. An early re-check would be a suitable second choice, if that's possible.
