Had this exact problem when travelling back from Mauritius on my BAEC number (end of year tier point push). My Cathay membership card (Diamond) was checked with my luggage and the lounge dragons/angels wouldn't accept any info I produced on my phone. Their explanation (reasonable I think) was that without the 'oneworld emerald' endorsement on the boarding pass they had no idea whether I was genuinely permitted access.
