I just checked the GRU website and it indicates that long haul international goes from T3 while short haul international goes from T2. But the distance between terminals will not be the issue. The challenge will be getting that boarding pass before check-in for the GRU-AEP flight closes.

www.staralliance.com for visa requirements. I think you wont need a Brazil visa, but AA will want to see proof of onward travel from GRU before they let you board the flight to Brazil, and will bring the MCT into play.
