Int'l Transfer at GRU AA->JJ
Greetings FT community - longtime visitor of FT here with some questions concerning an upcoming itinerary. I will be transferring at GRU in late October and need guidance on visa requirements and timing. I've searched the N/S America and AA forums and still have lingering questions, so am hoping someone with a similar experience can provide info or direct me to the relevant threads.
I purchased my inbound flight, AA193 (DFW->GRU) separately from the flight on TAM, JJ8010 (GRU-AEP). Total time for transfer is 1h 5m. I realize this is tight, however I will not be checking bags and my understanding is arrival and departure are in the same terminal. I arrive in J, so I don't expect deplaning to eat into my transfer time.
First question: Will I need to go through passport control? I will not be spending any time landside in Brazil on this trip and would like to avoid getting a visa if possible (US citizen here).
Second question: Does anyone have experience with this connection? Assuming my inbound flight is not delayed, is it enough time for security and to get to the gate? TAM apparently requires in-person check-in 2 hours prior to departure, but I don't know how rigidly this rule is enforced for connecting pax. My flight to AEP is apparently not eligible for online check-in, otherwise I would just check-in before leaving DFW.
Thanks in advance for your help!
