AA Award Flight Segment Cancelled by 9W - Advice Needed

Hi all,

I'm visiting India for the first time in 2/2016 to meet my girlfriend's family.

I booked an award trip with American Airlines miles in J that included a segment on Jet Airways (9W2291 DEL-IXR). Last week, the 9W flight dropped off of my itinerary. I called AA who said that 9W had cancelled the flight. After examining 9W's published flight schedule and attempting to make a test revenue booking directly with 9W, it indeed looks like 9W has discontinued ALL flights to IXR in the future.

Unfortunately, 9W is the only AA partner that flies to Ranchi. It appears that our best alternative is to book a revenue ticket on AI (AI809 DEL-IXR), extend our layover in DEL, and have to pay for excess baggage as we will likely exceed the 15kg limit for Y.

Before I call 9W, I have a few questions. Given that this itinerary was ticketed and confirmed months ago,
1) Do I have any leg to stand on for requesting that 9W rebook me on the AI flight in J as a substitute? I don't expect the answer to be yes but want to be sure of that.
2) How about with AA?
3) Does anyone have any more information about the cancellation of all 9W flights to IXR? I can't find any mention of this online, but the 9W published flight schedule definitely shows it.

Thank you very much in advance for the assistance!
