I thought I had a decent chance recently for DEN-IAH 787 on an M fare when the C cabin had about a dozen open seats 24 hours out and I was #4 on the waitlist after check-in...but it quickly went to full about an hour from departure. I'm 100% certain I was TOD'd as I've been offered $89 upgrades on this route before.
I'm flying the DEN-IAH route on the 787 in a couple weeks; I assure you if I don't clear 24-48 hours out as a Plat and get offered $89 at check-in, i'm taking it just to guarantee the ride up front.
