I can't find a receipt for my purchases on a flight on Sunday. They are fully posted on my credit card statement...maybe they'll show up eventually but it's really a hassle to have to chase them down days after a flight. I don't want to have to something on my calendar to remember get a receipt for $14.
My company requires all receipts for customer billable travel...while no one would probably notice if an occasional small receipt is missing, I try to avoid going out of policy on minor things so when I do accidentally lose a receipt for something larger management is flexible. They ought to allow you to register a card when you collect a receipt for future receipts to be automatically emailed.
On the topic of receipts, the last two times I've paid to check luggage I haven't received a receipt either. When you pay at check-in it asks for an email address for the receipt. The first time I used gmail, the second time my company email. No receipt either time. They can print it at the luggage counter if it's a united agent. My first flight in Boise they had some contractor service tagging bags at the automated kiosk so it's not always simple. And again it's one more thing to remember!
