Honestly, the NH shell seats are listed at 34", but to me, they felt very cramped and uncomfortable, especially if you choose to "recline", which really is your seat sliding forward, giving less legroom. It didn't help that I couldn't get seats on the 2 side (was flying with wife) and the 3rd seat was full too. The UA 747 in E+ is, I believe, also 34", but traditional recline.
But between the 2, I'd still take the UA 747. IFE on ANA is mostly geared toward an Asian audience, so UA wins that, at least for those with an American taste for movies/TV with the device-based streaming (assuming you have an iPad/computer to watch it on). Also wasn't impressed with the meals on ANA.
Just my opinion.
+1 on that.
I've flown the ANA 777-300 with the shell seats. The MOST uncomfortable seat I have ever been on. Yeah, seat slides forward and there goes the knee room.
I used to think the ANA 777-200 was not so great but it's way better than the 777-300.
Food was good though.
I was on the UA 747 two months ago. With the addition of 120V AC and streaming IFE, very comfortable now (in E+).
