Is there a big difference between 1st and 2nd class? I am checking out the prices for the TGV (Paris-Lyon-Paris)and there is quite a big difference especailly if I book 30 days in advance.

Another question I was wondering is that it looks like I have to make an advance reservation. Is that true? What happens if I turn up earlier, can I take an earlier train?
