I'm heading to New York tomorrow with my family and have booked 2 rooms for 5 nights each, all on either Points or Free Night Certificate.

I fully accept that I will receive no Points for the rooms but I fully expect to spend a lot of money in the Hotel and would be very disappointed if I didn't get the Points at the normal rate of 10 for every $

Why should my spend be treated any differently if I haven't paid for my room, something I'm able to do because of my loyalty to the brand?
