I'd imagine it's a popular route for cruisers in January trying to escape the PNW gloom, and if they're gonna pop a few thousand on a penthouse cabin, might as well add some more for that paid F seat...

I got not a darned thing for upgrades on SEA-MIA back in the day. SEA-MCO was considerably easier.
