"What to do?" Pick up the phone and call the hotel. Give them your confirmation number. Do not say they canceled it, or that it was a mistake rate. See what happens before launching into a speech on propriety. Perhaps the hysteria will be for naught.
Thanks for all the excellent advice. You're right, no need to conclude on worst-case scenarios.

To answer previous posters, I booked directly through the hotel and up until today have been able to view the reservation online, hence my concern when I couldn't pull it up. I checked previous spam emails to confirm that I haven't received anything from them.

I have read through the Best Practices thread and have been able to take advantage of a few mistake rates in the past. I used the suggestions in the thread to compose my email to the hotel, in which I simply said that I was unable to access the reservation rather than mentioning anything about the rate. If I haven't heard back by tomorrow I'll try calling the hotel directly.

At this point, if I call and they confirm that they canceled it because the rate was too low, has anybody ever had luck in the past persuading a hotel to honor the rate? I have no plan to launch into a tirade against the hotel. While I would of course be disappointed, its not the end of the world and we would simply stay at the Park Hyatt or Fairmont instead.
