Hotel del Coronado Canceled My Reservation Without Notifying Me. What to Do? [Advice]
On March 13 I booked a Queen Resort room at the Hotel Del Coronado for one night on August 29-30. The rate was a mistake rate of $92.31. For several months I waited to find out whether or not if would be honored before making plans. On July 15 I received a email from the hotel, confirming the reservation and the original rate. Since my rate was still standing 4 months after booking and I hadn't received any information to the contrary, I assumed the hotel would honor the rate and went ahead and booked our flights for the trip.
This morning I went to add a massage and dinner reservation to our hotel reservation but when I tried to log in to our reservation I got the error message saying: "Reservation not found." It looks like the hotel has canceled the reservation without notifying me. While I'm glad I didn't wait until I was at the front desk to handle this, I am frustrated that the hotel never contacted me about the cancellation. I sent an email to Reservations this morning asking for assistance with my reservation, we'll see how they respond. In the meantime, is there anything I can do to increase the chance of the rate being honored? Should I try simply appealing to their sense of propriety by letting them know that I was never notified and they had nearly half a year to do so?
Has anyone been in a similar situation before and had it resolved positively?
