You can't just change one sector on a through reservation. You must check availability from origin to destination, eg PNH-SIN-JFK. Even if PNH-SIN is available, the SQ system will reject the space once the agent tries to book it as the through availability is not available.

You'd just have to wait till SQ opens up space on the through flights.
I am a bit confused. So even though I have confirmed space on SIN -JFK, i have to wait for another seat to open up, in order to make whole itinerary PHN - SIN -JFK available? I am flying in F from SIN - JFK. Not likely that another seat will become available, at least until last minute.
