I travel frequently for long distance and mostly use Emirate/Etihad/Qatar/ or LH, can can tell you that the overall experience with TK is miles and miles behind these other four airlines.
Those 2 statements are spot on. TK is great when you use it primarily for leisure with a lot of time/margins for delays (I usually stay in Istanbul between flights 24 - 48 hours) and when you can get everything done online.
God forbid if I need to get anything done outside thy.com or having to deal with any IRROP. Luckily I go to NYC or Toronto on a regular basis (FYI the ticket counter at JFK is among the best I have dealt with) to get anything else done if needed. To make matters worse IST is getting more congested (with more likelihood of delays) each day.
I find ME3 and even smaller carriers like WY more efficient when it comes to reservations and ground services.
