I also manage to maintain BA Gold and A3 Gold, this year most likely on leisure travel only - although this will be the lowest yearly mileage I've ever credited to a *A FFP by a long way, so the 4-flight provision looks like it's going to be very useful!

As I'm UK based, coupled with the fact that A3 (almost) exclusively only operates between European countries, you should be able to find plenty of 4 sector deals - I'm not sure why you feel there's nothing suitable in that thread. It may not always be London that's cheap, but Germany normally has rich pickings and you'd only need Y flights because if you pick the dates carefully you can utilise flights that have upgrade space so your Gold upgrade vouchers will come into play. A RFS with BA into Germany could make for a fairly cheap renewal strategy - certainly nothing like £1200.
