Flew from the US on Thursday, in my carry on I had two cameras, an iPad and a USB battery pack, an SSD and a mobile wifi hotspot. My personal items that I put in the tray for screening consisted of two iPhones, and an apple watch. All went straight through, no questions and certainly didn't have to show they turned on etc. Weirdly this was an ex-Dub itinerary, I had no issues at Heathrow or in the US. However at Dublin they examined my DSLR camera lens as they said they could not scan inside it!! Didn't care about the electronic items.
