The TSA let you keep tablets in your carry-on as it goes through the X-ray (whereas the UK requires them to be taken out, like a laptop) so I should imagine you'll be fine with a boxed Apple Watch - they probably won't even twig it's not simply a watch.

Incidentally, has anyone actually had UK security ask you to power up a device? It's yet to happen to me.
