I just ran into these two nasty messages, trying to check in on my flight back to the US.
"Authorization required for borders security"
And then
"According to our security check, you do not currently have the authorization required to travel to the US."
I indeed do not have ESTA and I'm not supposed to.
I am living and working in the US on an L1 visa. Hence I do not need a visa waiver.
I haven't found anything on these error messages on google, so I thought I'd post and at least lead to one hit.
I assume that they just see that I'm German, search ESTA and don't find me (or just find an old ESTA).
I called them and used twitter, but both pretty much just shrug and told me to go to the airport because they will totally be able to figure that one out...
The flight from the US to France got canceled and we had to be rebooked, so I guess I just luck out with BA systems these days
Anyone happen to have seen these before
