Instead of opening a new thread, I thought I would post this here:

Downtown Grand Hotel-Casino Will Announce It’s Up for Sale

Just when you thought the Las Vegas casino landscape couldn’t get any wilder, we’re hearing the Downtown Grand is set to announce it’s up for sale.

An official announcement Downtown Grand is on the market is expected within the next week.

I think this would be a great buy for Boyd Gaming if the price is right. They already operate the Cal!, Fremont and Main Street Station in Downtown Las Vegas. They have a huge locals following with the Sun Coast, Orleans, Gold Coast, Sam's Town and casinos all over the USA.

They operate the Cal! and Main Street Station (both a block off Fremont St, just like the Downtown Grand) by flying four 767 junket flights in each week from HNL to LAS. This is done with Vacations Hawaii, which I think they own.

The Downtown Grand has a great pool and they could cater this hotel to visitors from Hawaii and local Hawaiians (approx 20,000 live in Clark County) with Luau's a few days a week.

If they purchased this hotel (at a fire sale price) the could add more charter flts from HNL and perhaps run seasonal flts from OGG.

They could also look into junket flts from other cities on the Mainland or hook up with Allegiant or Sun Country.

I think this could work very well for Boyd Gaming. The other two that could make this work I think would be the owners of The D who just bought the Las Vegas Club or Michael Gaughan (owner of the South Point). Mr Gaughan's father (Jackie) was the king of Downtown Las Vegas Casinos for many, many years.

This is still a rumor. We will see.
