A new automated customs system will allow "low-risk" travelers to avoid the usual lines at Canadian borders. The new system will free customs officers to focus on terrorist threats, drug trafficking and other problems.

Touch screens and automated kiosks will be used at crossings between Canada and the US over the next 4 years to identify pre-registered travelers and accept credit-card payments for customs duties.
