Great riding you have done. I'm jealous. And, don't trust SYD baggage handlers with bike boxes.
Well, in 2006, the SYD baggage handlers were just excellent - as was Qantas check-in staff.

I had purchased a RT tocket to BNE from YWG in Canada and brought my bicycle, a trailer, etc. After buying a circle AU addition and bicycling the Savannah Way on 1200+ km of dirt, I flew with boxes of bicycle, stuff, and a trailer. Qantas staff just charged me (in Sept 2006) $150 UA and I was off. Everything arrived fine - except that the TSA-Nazis in LAX crushed my tim-tam cookies during an inspection and unwrapped my greasy bicycle parts and mixed them with my clothes. truely ignorant people.

Now, however, things with QF baggage handlers are different. Unfortunate
