Maybe not TYO, but the OP seems to be at least a bit flexible on that (plus M&M might make it possible with a stop over before hopping on the SYD flight or maybe AKL if ANZ has some space?) to warrant other options.
KL had 1kE fares to China, allowing a stopover in HKG (and being the same region as TYO for M&M routing), BA had those 800E fares to HKG as well.
BKK with AY is regularly available for 1.5kE and it's the same amount of miles + TG is fairly generous with award space. Maybe the expanded M&M partnertship with SQ might yield some SQ space as well? Ha, I can even see some NZ space from SIN in the off season.
