There have been plenty of 1-1.5k deals to Asia in C, much more then to the US recently.

Starting in Asia you're saving 30k in award costs and wouldn't be surprised if also a couple hundred $/E in extra fees if the US-EU awards are any indication.

Not sure about the tickets cost ex. Japan, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were significantly higher for OZ/NZ flying then EU-Asia which can be had for under 500E regularly.
