If you stayed in the Park Suite then that is why your transfer was complimentary, not because you were a diamond. Again, if you are in a suite (either paid or using a DSU) the transfer is free. It was explicitly confirmed that there is no complimentary transfer for diamonds (I confirmed as well as my Diamond concierge).
I didn't book a suite or used a DSU. It was just an upgrade. When I emailed the hotel I'm pretty sure they did not assign a suite for me yet.
Here's the relevant part of the email I received:
"
Greetings from Park Hyatt Chennai!
Thank you very much for making Park Hyatt Chennai as your personal address while visiting Chennai. We will be more than happy to arrange the airport transfer for your arrival which would be on a complimentary basis as you are a Diamond Gold passport member with us."
Again, that was back in March. Maybe things changed, or maybe they already knew I'd be in a suite. The email says it's a Diamond benefit.
