Indeed. (Although I was not personally aware that they had cut the time from 12 to 10 hours, not that it would have helped here.)

I just wondered whether it was indeed AA's rules that applied here seeing as they would presumably be chucking the bags at BA as soon as the AA flight got to JFK. Apparently so, which is consistent with the fact, which I have like L-o-M taken advantage of before, that BA's rules seem to apply in the other direction and I have re-checked bags to AA with a 20 hour connection before.

I still get 420 tier points and the chance to do something in NYC this evening, so I will live!

It would (AA kindly consider) be great if AA could offer longer baggage though checkin times at JFK at least premium passengers...
