This is evident on the new world of mega airline mergers and the lack of US legislators willing pass a bill of passenger rights (at least Europe has something).
I had sent a demand letter, not sure if the email response is based on the letter or on the email submission. I will wait the reasonable time frame I suggested on my letter and proceed accordingly.
The legislation and mechanism is there for you to claim what you feel is rightfully yours. It's called The Small Claims Court.
Gather your evidence, receipts and CC statements and file against AA. Any reasonable judge would more than likely side with you if you present your case concisely and clearly.
