Lots of good advice, in fact when you have finished with that article, you will find many many items to read in there.

In particular, to answer your question, this is what is said about points expiry

"Do Avios points expire?

Technically yes. If there is absolutely no activity on your account for three years, they will expire. In reality, it is highly unlikely that this will happen".
